John & Edward Grimes, 19½, are an Irish pop duo. They are identical twins and perform under the name Jedward. Widely known for their blonde quiffs, the twins first appeared on the 6th series of 'The X Factor' in 2009, in a phenomenon described as 'the Jedward paradox'. The boys represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, progressing through the second semi-final, and performed at the finale. Their song "Lipstick" is the first single released from the twins' second album, which is scheduled for release in Summer 2011. Jedward announced on June 9th, 2011 -yesterday- that they are done recording their sophomore album.
Cheeky Irish 'singing sensation' twins Jedward have just been in the news again, as having (unsucessfully) represented Ireland at the recent Eurovision Song Contest in Germany.
They are very annoying, but vaguely amusing, teenagers, who have always found it surprisingly difficult to hit a correct musical note... but why let that get in the way of success!
In case you're not aware, their name comes from combining the J from John, with Edward (their given names)... Thank goodness their parents didn't name them Peter and Rick.
